Why see one of our dietitians instead of a nutritionist?
Cherry Nutrition only employs registered dietitians in our clinics but what is a dietitian and how do they differ from the many 'nutritionists' who work in Essex.
Unlike Nutritionists, ALL Dietitians:
Graduated from university having completed a full time degree
Have to be registered the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) - a government body
Can be audited by the HCPC and are legally committed to keep our knowledge up to date.
Have trained and the vast majority worked in the NHS dietetically treating patients in clinic appointments and on wards sometimes using tubes to feed patients in ICU and Stroke units.
MUST follow evidence based science while treating patients.
WILL NOT sell you supplements
WILL NOT offer non-scientific tests such as Vega and IgG testing for food allergy or intolerance as they are NOT valid tests to diagnose allergy OR intolerance (NICE 2017).
How do I know if you can help me?
We offer a FREE 15 mins phone call to discuss your symptoms which allows your dietitian a chance to understand whether we have the expertise to assist you. We will not give you dietetic advice at this point but if we don't think we can help then we may signpost you to more appropriate NHS care or private services. What do I need to do before the appointment?
BEFORE your appointment we will send you by post /email the following to complete:
A comprehensive 7 day food and symptom diary - with simple instructions on how to complete.
A health questionnaire - you may need information from your GP to complete this fully.
Once these documents are completed please return to them us prior to your appointment by email at email@example.com or bring them with you to the appointment.
If you have GP and consultant letters, reports and blood tests please bring these with you to clinic as they will help us understand your medical history.
How does payment for the dietetic appointment work?
When you BOOK ONLINE you will be asked to pay a deposit (~50%) to secure your appointment slot - this can be completed online. On the day of your appointment your additional payment can be paid either online or during clinic using our card reader device (you will need to know your PIN number). For the FODMAP and other packages payment can be in instalments.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
Please ensure you phone, text or email Cherry Nutrition a minimum of one week before the appointment if you would like to rearrange and we will do our best to accommodate you.
If you are unwell please give a minimum of 24hrs notice otherwise you will be liable for the full cost of the appointment.
